Audit & Accounts Senior

Hire Resolve’s client is seeking an experienced and driven Audit & Accounts Senior to join their team in Reading, England. As an Audit and Accounts Senior, you will play a key role in conducting audits, preparing financial statements, and providing valuable insights to clients.

This is a new role to focus on dealing with audits, small/medium limited companies, sole traders and partnerships. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in audit and accounting, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.

Responsibilities:

  • Have at least 5 years general practice experience and be competent in all aspects of audit, accounts and taxation work for small/medium companies, sole traders and partnerships
  • Have some general tax knowledge, in particular corporation tax which will be supported by our dedicated tax department
  • Assist directors with client meetings and be able to deal with client queries on accounting, payroll and taxation matters, identifying any issues that require further investigation and advice
  • Assist with new clients to ensure a smooth on boarding of the client into our internal systems, identify and register with HMRC for relevant taxes, advice new clients of bookkeeping requirements
  • Take responsibility for key aspects of audit assignments such as planning, audit testing and file preparation and assistance with finalization matters. Assist in leading audit team and junior staff
  • Preparation of some larger year end accounts assignments, corporation tax computations, management accounts
  • Review of VAT returns and bookkeeping
  • Maintain continuous and beneficial contact with clients
  • Keep engagement directors adequately informed of progress on engagements
  • Maintain close contact with clients throughout engagements to ensure continuing good relations and the effective completion of work
  • Invoice of client work. Monitor time spent on engagements to ensure a commercial return for the business. Deal with any client queries
  • Assist in the on-job training and development of junior staff
  • Awareness of full service offering in order to spot potential opportunities to provide additional services to existing clients and potential clients

Requirements:

  • ACCA/ACA qualified
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in General Practice
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office
  • Comprehensive audit accounting and taxation experience including:
  • Audit planning, execution and finalisation
  • Limited company accounts preparation
  • Corporate taxation
  • Mainstream VAT
  • Technically up to date
  • Sound professional sense
  • Good communication and written skills, in particular when communicating with clients
  • Experience of staff supervision
  • Would ideally suit someone who has been working in a small or medium practice providing all round, audit, accounting and tax services.
  • Must be car driver and owner
  • Ability to assess priorities and make decisions
